Day 14 Langkawi

All aboard the happy bus. Today we visited Langkawi in Malaysia. It is rainy season and it poured down for the first half of the trip. It was scary how the bus was going at high speeds in the heavy rain on a two way bumpy road. A couple of times the tour guide mentioned how the roads or buildings were made of cement, but he kept saying cemen, leaving the 't' sound off at the end. I was surprised that some of the olds on the bus had a giggle at this.

First we visited Galleria Perdana, which contains all the souvenirs and gifts given to Malaysia's fourth Prime Minister. The building had some nice ceilings and contained hundreds of glass cases with treasures from around the world including cars, guns, swords, art work, crystal, etc.  One case was full of beautiful crystal, but one piece stood out. It appeared to be an uneven thick glass bowl from Ireland. It stood out amongst all the cut crystal, like the ugly duckling. Maybe they didn't like the Prime Minister.

Next we went to the Budaya craft and cultural complex. Just another market for me, Nana and I had a quick look and went back to the bus.

The weather cleared up in time for us to visit the Langkawi cable car. We didn't see any monkeys or king cobra :( There is meant to be a stunning waterfall as you go up, but it was nothing more than a dribble. The ride was a little scary, but the view was good.

Tonight in the dinning room there was a Italian menu. All the waiters were dressed in red and white striped sweaters. It was like a scene from where's wally.

We now have a few days at sea before we arrive Mumbai. Tomorrow night is our 2nd formal night. I hope I can fit into my formal clothes. We set our clocks back another hour tonight.
